Large Screen Hotel Case Study

Renaissance Hotel guests upgrade to modern luxury with ViewSonic plasma display.

Challenge
Managers at the Renaissance Waverly Hotel needed a modern, large, flat-panel wide-screen television for the sprawling two-bedroom Presidential Suite.

Solution
  • The hotel chose a 42-inch VPW4255 plasma display from ViewSonic for the suite's customized entertainment center.
  • The corporate sales team from CompUSA Business was able to install the unit in one afternoon, without even disturbing the current occupant.
Results
The Presidential Suite has taken on a new vitality as an unrivaled reception area and intimate special event space. Hotel managers consider the new plasma to be a great new addition that adds value for hospitality suite guests. They continue to work with ViewSonic and the CompUSA Business team on other display initiatives.
"Our guests felt a lot more special to be in the presidential suite."
- Robert Harbin, CompUSA

The customer

"For the last episode of Friends we had more than 18 guests up there and they thought Friends on the wide screen was the greatest."

The Renaissance Waverly Hotel, located just northwest of Atlanta, is one of the jewels of the Marriott hotel family. Boasting more than 521 rooms and 60,000 square feet of meeting space, the Renaissance Waverly is a preferred destination for business meetings, conferences and top-tier international travelers. With the distinction of being both an AAA 4-Diamond and Mobil 4-Star hotel, guests ranging from casual travelers to global celebrities are met with unparalleled professionalism.

The challenge
The Presidential Suite at the Renaissance Waverly Hotel had a unique problem-it wasn't quite presidential enough. Despite a sprawling two-bedroom layout with large sitting rooms, the suite boasted the same television technology as every other room in the building. Hotel managerment was seeking a wide screen unit with a thin form factor that could be installed quickly, so that the hotel would not have to close the room for renovations.

The solution
Comp USA Business steered the hotel to the ViewSonic VPW4255, a 42-inch plasma display that would fit nicely into the entertainment center of the room. The CompUSA team was able to install the unit in one afternoon for a low cost, without even disturbing the current occupant. "Our guest felt a lot more special to be in the presidential suite," Harbin said.

The results
Ron Atkins at the Renaissance Waverly Hotel sums up the results in a word "value". The technology increased the suite's value as a hospitality facility. "For the last episode of Friends we had more than 18 guests up there and they thought Friends on the wide screen was the greatest."
